About this activity

Wine has always been a part of Bulgarian culture and history, and Sofia is home to some of the country’s most vibrant wine bars and craft wine shops. Sofia Wine Walk organizes wine-related walking tours and tastings in Sofia. The tours specialize in small, boutique Bulgarian wineries that produce limited editions of wines. If you are looking to expand your knowledge about Bulgarian wine and experience something different, Sofia Wine Walk offers an opportunity to explore Sofia’s vibrant wine scene.

If you have a few hours free and want to fill it up with some fun let me show you where to start.

On this tour, you will visit three unique venues(two wine shops/wine bars and 1 restaurant) chosen for their excellent wine selections and contribution to Bulgaria’s wide variety, and listen to their fascinating stories.

The duration of the tour is 2.5-3 hours. The minimum number of people per tour is 2, and the maximum is 10. The tour is in English or Bulgarian only. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the journey.

There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.

Highlights

The meeting point for the start of the tour is in front of the main entrance of the University of Sofia. The start of the tour will be at the Monument of St. Petersburg.
The tour can be conducted in Bulgarian and English.
Monday through Saturday the tour starts at 7:00 pm
The total walking distance is about 30-40 minutes, but it is divided into three stages between the different locations and each stage is about 10-15 minutes.

Included/Excluded

A special wine tour in Sofia with a certified sommelier guide. Includes visits to three different tasting locations – 2 wine bars/shops and 1 restaurant.
The experience includes tasting of 6 Bulgarian wines (2 in each of the three venues and 50 ml of wine each) mostly from local Bulgarian varieties.
As the aim of the tour is to be a unique experience for each customer, the selection of wines will be made by the sommelier according to the guests’ preferences and therefore a prior request will be arranged by email.
Tapas are served at two of the sites, but no dinner is provided.
