About this tour

This 9-day adventure is designed for travelers who seek more than just sightseeing — it offers a deep and varied encounter with Bulgaria’s natural beauty, historical richness, and living traditions. Winding through mountain passes, river gorges, and tranquil valleys, the itinerary combines scenic drives with light hikes to hidden waterfalls, limestone caves, and panoramic ridges. These landscapes are not only visually spectacular, but also steeped in myth and memory — from the iconic “Eyes of God” in Prohodna Cave to the mystical silence of the Glozhene Monastery, perched on a rock above the forest. Along the way, you’ll pass by vineyards, rustic villages, and ancient fortresses that echo with stories of Thracians, Romans, and medieval rebels. You’ll explore the cultural and artistic legacy of Veliko Tarnovo, once the capital of a medieval empire, and experience the vibrant rhythm of Plovdiv — a city that seamlessly blends Roman ruins with bohemian spirit.

But this journey isn’t just about places — it’s also about people. Meet local families who keep culinary and craft traditions alive, share meals with small-scale producers who offer homemade cheese and preserves, and taste regional wines that tell the story of the land. Whether soaking in the peaceful energy of nature, walking through centuries of heritage, or enjoying the warmth of village hospitality, you’ll discover a Bulgaria that is layered, soulful, and refreshingly authentic. Perfect for those with a curious mind and a love of slow, meaningful travel, this tour reveals a lesser-known side of Europe.
